Cincinnati Divorce Lawyers Pay Attention to Mandel’s Separation Records
Josh Mandel, the former treasurer for the State of Ohio, is running in the Republican primary for Rob Portman’s soon-to-be-vacated Senate seat. A Republican judge, Ronald Forsthoefel, had sealed the records about Mandel’s divorce records.
Mandel and his former spouse had filed for divorce in Ashland County in April of 2020, though they were living in Cuyahoga County at the time with their three children. The Cincinnati Enquirer was successful in their request for the divorce records to be unsealed. Mandel held a press conference in February of 2021 in which he shared those court filings.
As divorce lawyers in Cincinnati look on, it is yet to be seen where the Mandel family’s marriage dissolution will have any impact on Josh Mandel’s political aspirations. His ex-wife, Ilana Shafran Mandel, is a cousin of Forest City CEO Al Ratner, and she helped fund Mandel’s previous Senate campaign against Sherrod Brown.
